This year has had many people trying to find their personal and professional rhythm again as they attend social events. Many people are now choosing to participate in hybrid (in-person and online) events, making planning more difficult. Many community groups have been suffering from declining attendance rates. These groups have experienced decreased opportunities for face-to-face social connections with neighbors, lessened community engagement, and missed opportunities for celebrating accomplishments throughout the year. This year the Agent Of Influence Awards will be bestowed through many kink, lifestyle, and community groups as recognize and celebrate our culture bearers. These awards formally recognize people and organizations whose actions and work impacted you and the culture of our connected lifestyle communities. If you are a Kink, Lifestyle, or Community organization supporting the inclusion of all people, please reach out if you would like to collaborate and utilize the annual awards as a fundraiser for your group. These Awards celebrate the positive work that's happening in the world and recognize leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
The Agent of Influence Award is to recognize the contributions that people and organizations have made to the local and global kink, lifestyle, alternative communities, and the culture of our connected communities. We all belong to a diverse community of people who share their love and passion for their way of life and themselves as expressive possibilities. Every day, our actions affect our community in positive or negative ways. Our culture has a lot of diversity, as evidenced by our gender, sexuality, and organizational expressions. It's all a part of our cultural heritage, and we pass it on.
Appreciation is a fundamental human need, and all of us who are doing the work in the communities know it is a lot of work. The bulk of that work often goes unnoticed, and the challenges often remain behind the scenes. Through these awards, an individual's work or an organization's efforts are appreciated and acknowledged as valuable and meaningful in our lives and communities' legacies.
This award began as I began teaching my style of hypnosis and concepts of power exchange to a select few. We formed a tight-knit group that moved internationally and in many circles today. From the beginning, these awards sought to honor, reward, and celebrate each other's work, progress, and contributions to a variety of fields. It is important to celebrate, honor, and recognize one another. Over time we started giving awards to our favorite authors, speakers, trainers, and community members. We would invite them to drink with us and tell them stories about how their words, works, and art inspired us. That is the spirit of these awards and how I encourage all of us to embrace being cultural agents that promote and embody the changes that they want to see in the world.
The first to be recognized this year is The Big Easy Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Their work to share a sex and kink positive perspective, decreasing stigma, shame, and guilt for LGBTIQQ people, is a refuge for many. Their work to provide resources for sex-positive education, community and personal development, and empowerment is invaluable. They also are a group that believes in and actively works to create a better world for our youth, and those discovering themselves for the first time.

The Agent of Influence Award can be conferred on an individual or organization. This recognition allows others to more readily discover the outcomes and their works, struggles, and strivings in a larger context that we are all part of. It also inspires others to make a difference in the world, challenge themselves and others, and encourage this work to remain visible in mainstream culture.
